Automated Decision-Making Technology (ADMT) Transparency

A legal requirement to disclose to consumers when an automated system (including AI) is making a consequential decision about them, such as credit, employment, or insurance eligibility. Colorado's SB 26-189 is the first U.S. law to mandate this explicitly.
Without disclosure, consumers cannot contest or appeal AI decisions affecting their lives; transparency requirements force organizations to track where AI is deployed and what it decides, creating accountability.
