What happened
On Sept 29 at DevDay, CrowdStrike announced the Falcon platform is available in the new OpenAI Marketplace (eligible OpenAI customers can apply existing commitments), Falcon Guardian now extends runtime protection to OpenAI Codex agents (visibility, compromised/unauthorized-behavior detection, runtime controls), and OpenAI GPT-5.6 Cyber will bring cyber reasoning into Falcon, starting with the FAIRR service.
Why it matters
It gives enterprise defenders runtime governance over Codex coding agents (a prime shadow-agent/privilege surface) and establishes a new commercial path — applying OpenAI spend to cyber defense — that other security vendors (incl. Palo Alto) are now replicating as OpenAI Marketplace launch partners.
Applicability
CrowdStrike enterprise customers running Codex should enable Falcon Guardian runtime controls on agent activity immediately; security procurement teams should model OpenAI-commitment-funded Falcon adoption.
